STCW 4 ADVANCED FIRE FIGHTING UPDATING TRAINING
Aim
To give all those seeking updating training certification for advanced firefighting the essential education and training set out in Table A-VI/3.
Learning Outcomes
The learner knows how to control firefighting operations aboard ship
The learner knows how to organise and train fire parties
The learner knows how to inspect and service fire detection and extinguishing systems and equipment
The learner is able to investigate and compile reports on incidents involving fire
Assessment
To meet the competencies set out in Table A-VI/3.
Pre-requisites
Updating training is to be undertaken, in line with the above regulations, by seafarers holding an advanced firefighting certificate, or equivalent, and who have maintained the required standard of competence, by on-board training and experience, for all competencies listed in the self-declaration form. Seafarers must sign the self-declaration form as a pre-requisite to the reduced hours entry route of the MCA approved updating course.
